Description
Sucralfate+oxetacaine is a combination of two medications: Sucralfate and Oxetacaine. Sucralfate is a gastrointestinal protector that operates by creating a protective layer or coating over the ulcer so that digestive enzymes, acid, and bile salts cannot further irritate the lining of the stomach and duodenum. This shields the ulcer from the stomach’s acid, facilitating its healing. Additionally, Oxetacaine is a local anaesthetic that provides a numbing effect, hence offering relief from pain caused by ulcers or acidic damage in the stomach.
Uses of Sucralfate + Oxetacaine Oral Suspension
Sucralfate+oxetacaine is utilized to treat peptic ulcers or gastrointestinal ulcers. It also addresses hyperacidity, heartburn, indigestion, and gastritis (inflammation of the stomach). The stomach is generally defended against acid by a mucous layer. In certain instances, due to excessive acid production, the mucous layer becomes eroded, which results in issues like acidity and heartburn. A peptic ulcer is a sore on the stomach’s lining or the initial section of the small intestine (duodenum). Ulcers or sores in the stomach area are referred to as gastric ulcers, while an ulcer in the duodenum is called a duodenal ulcer.
